Grateful

I am so grateful.

Grateful for friends who sit with you in the corner booth and drink hot tea and laugh at the nonsense.

Friends who allow you to explore your own failings without trying to defend or dissuade. Friends who affirm your observations, encourage your character, and call you higher in love.

Friends you can take to the bar and to church. Friends who lace up their walking shoes for a 6 hour adventure around town. Friends who hold up a mirror as you walk.

Grateful for this home that is slowly becoming mine. Grateful that Roman has his own room. Grateful for the bed in the corner where Flynn is snoring right now.

Grateful for my family. A family of personalities and strong wills and a desire to show up. A family of people doing their best to love one another.

Grateful they call to check in. Grateful they show up with hammers and drills and do the dishes when the day has been too much.

Grateful for this body that has carried me through the world. Through sports and injuries and birth. Grateful to care for it differently. To heal it over this next year.

Grateful for my church. The familiar faces and hugs and the cross made of sticks on the wall.

Grateful for this town. This simple small world where I can walk North or South. Grateful to provide for my son in such an incredible place. To be a mother somewhere so beautiful.

Grateful to cook amazing food and drink amazing water and live a lifestyle of simplicity.

Grateful for my mistakes. The lessons I’ve had to learn (often more than once.)

Grateful for the person I’ve become. The person I am still becoming.

Grateful for my son.

Grateful for God.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.
